Mike Klotz, JD, AMFT, APCC

JD, MA, AMFT

Practice Description

I work with adult individuals and couples from all walks of life to find more happiness, connection and mental health in their lives. Prior to becoming a therapist, I had a rewarding 20-year career as a lawyer and dedicate part of my practice to providing therapy and coaching to lawyers, therapists and other professionals in high-stress careers. I also love consulting with law firms and legal departments on attorney-wellness issues and offer pragmatic and approachable continuing legal education (CLE) that meets the State Bar of California’s Competence Credit requirements.

My approach is collaborative and direct. You can count on me to be an active listener and participant in our work together. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and tailor my approach to meet the needs and personalities of my clients.

If you'd like to know learn more about my services or talk about whether we might be a good fit to work together, please feel free to connect anytime to schedule a free consultation on my website at https://mikeklotzcounseling.com/contact/

Note on Finance

How do you handle billing?

I do not accept insurance but do accept payment from HSAs and provide superbills upon request for clients whose insurance may provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers. I don’t work directly with insurance companies because doing so can impact the quality of care I am able to provide to clients. Insurance companies often limit the number of sessions you can have, require specific diagnoses to be made, or dictate the type of therapy that can be used. These restrictions make it challenging for therapists to provide the best possible care for their clients based on their individual needs.
