Attorneys are trained to anticipate problems, challenge assumptions, prepare for every possibility, and rarely take anything at face value. Those are valuable skills at work. They can be exhausting when your mind doesn’t know when to stop using them. I’m a clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience working with professionals dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, overthinking, self-doubt, and relentless internal pressure. Many of my clients are highly capable and successful, yet find it surprisingly difficult to switch off, tolerate uncertainty, or feel that what they’ve accomplished is enough.
My approach is active, thoughtful, and individualized. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, ACT, and mindfulness, knowing when a concrete strategy is useful and when it makes more sense to understand what keeps a pattern going.
I trained at Harvard and am the author of Perfectionism: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals. I offer individual therapy in New York City and virtually in New York, New Jersey, and PSYPACT-participating states.
I am an out-of-network provider and do not participate directly with insurance plans. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Therapy should be more than insight without change or strategies without understanding. My approach combines psychodynamic therapy with CBT, ACT, and mindfulness. Sometimes that means developing concrete ways to manage anxiety, overthinking, or perfectionism. Other times, it means looking more closely at why a pattern persists even when you understand it intellectually. I don’t believe one approach fits everyone. Good therapy means knowing what will be useful, for whom, and when.
