We are all seeking reliable refuge. Most of us have internalized the notion that refuge is to be found in external phenomena – other people, places and things. While these external phenomena can be pleasing, reality demonstrates that these phenomena are inherently impermanent and unsatisfactory. Most of us have internalized likes and dislikes in ways that have crystallized in a belief in the existence of a self - the defense and protection of which has come to dictate much of our decision-making through adulthood.
I specialize in working with highly intellectual and analytical clients seeking to cultivate more inner peace and general sense of aliveness. As one with dual graduate degrees, and having transitioned from law practice to becoming a therapist, I am able to relate to these challenges. I also offer bi-weekly therapy groups specifically for attorneys.
My therapeutic approach incorporates Buddhist psychology and other modalities and is helpful to anyone interested in cultivating more grounded presence and inner peace. My rate for individual psychotherapy is $175-225 for a 50-minute session. Couples counseling is available at a rate of $225 for a 50-minute session.
While I do not participate on any insurance panels, I routinely provide clients with monthly Superbills that clients then submit to their insurance providers to request reimbursement for out-of-network services.
I am also a Mental Health Hearing Officer with the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, where I adjudicate 5250 hearings involving involuntary psychiatric holds.
While my practice integrates many approaches including Buddhist, Existential and Gestalt theories, I work largely on an intuitive basis coming from a place of deep curiosity.
