Jonathan Goldin, JD, LICSW brings a unique dual background in both law and psychotherapy to his work with attorneys navigating the pressures of legal practice. After earning his Juris Doctor from American University and later a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University, Jonathan dedicated more than two decades to helping professionals address the psychological challenges that arise in high-stakes environments. His practice integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems approaches, and Solution-Focused strategies, with a strong emphasis on mindfulness, resilience, and rediscovering personal strengths.
Jonathan’s path into psychotherapy was shaped by his own lived experience with ADHD, which deepened his empathy and inspired him to support others facing similar struggles. Over the years, his clinical focus has expanded to include anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, and relationship challenges—issues that frequently impact attorneys under relentless pressure to perform. He employs a collaborative and interactive style, blending coaching, psychoeducation, and positive psychology to provide concrete takeaways in each session. His goal is to help lawyers build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others, while sustaining clarity, focus, and balance in their professional lives.
Attorneys working with Jonathan benefit not only from his therapeutic expertise, but also from his insider understanding of the legal profession’s culture, demands, and stressors. Having trained and consulted nationally, he has developed innovative strategies that support professionals in times of crisis, transition, or burnout. Jonathan’s approach is rooted in the principle that therapy is a relationship, not a transaction, and he works with each client to uncover sustainable solutions that foster resilience, meaning, and growth in both personal and professional domains.
Sessions are for one hour and I directly bill your insurance company. Copay is made at the time of session and Venmo is best method.
Family couples and individual psychotherapy is never Generic: always geared to your essential needs/goals which we pinpoint in Session One.
The most important element for healing and increased self awareness is a positive therapeutic relationship. Working with a clients' natural character strengths and virtues helps to deal with depression, anxiety, and ADHD among other challenges. Mindfulness and meditation and the concept of Flow are also tools I use. The most important things are my Intuition, Empathy, and Sense of Humor.
I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I'll help you identify your Character and professional Strengths and how best to use them.
